"EVOLVING MEDIA OF GILGIT BALTISTAN"

In Gilgit Baltistan, just like other places of the country and the world, there has been an evolution occuring in the media industry in the recent decade and it's quite dramatic. Previously there were just a couple of newspapers locally published which provided information of everyday happenings to the public of the GB province. In the last decade and so there has been a revolution in the media production, consumption and the outreach due to exogenous impact.

Alongside the mature newspapers which have a long legacy like K2, Nawae-Waqt etc, other lots of novice newspapers have emerged. Some of the newspapers are in the English language too and they are regularly read by the

 

public. Furthermore, there are lots of news channels and electronic media has become very much established in the region. There are multiple news channels which broadcast the news twenty four seven. People are are now used to watching TV for the local news too. Moreover, the social media has taken the province with storms in terms of it's consumption behavioral pattern.

 The social media is an extremely popular tool of spreading as well acquiring news information in the GB. People are heavily relying on it for news as well socialization purposes. Most of the newspapers too are publishing on social media networks like Facebook. Electronic media too is streaming online as the viewers

are drawn to it. Most of the political and social activism too it witnessed on the social media. Litertate as well as non-literate people use social media on daily basis. They deem it extremely efficient. Political campaigning too has been observed on the social media. Among the social media networks, Facebook happens to be the most popular one among the masses here in Gilgit Baltistan.

This trend of social media use and changed dynamics of media have increased political awareness among the people. People are more active politically as well engaging in political happenings and policy making. People feel empowered too as they as voice there opinions freely and influence political decision making. Nevertheless, it has some drawbacks too like spread of false or fake news, misinformation and political, social and religious propaganda campaigns which malign the target groups and mar their credibility and often get away with it.

. Despite the drawbacks of the emerging media phenomena in the GB, increasing awareness among the masses and regularization on the part of government of media seems to be the way forward to embrace and enjoy the novel dynamism of media because of its phenomenal utility.

 اسلام آباد: مسلم لیگ(ن) کے مرکزی رہنما شاہد خاقان عباسی نے کہا ہے کہ ہمیں کچھ بھی کرنے کی ضرورت نہیں حکومت خود اپنے وزن سے گر جائے گی۔

اسلام آباد میں مریم اورنگزیب اور مصدق ملک کے ہمراہ پریس کانفرنس کرتے ہوئے شاہد خاقان عباسی نے کہا کہ یہ حکومت جھوٹوں کا ٹولہ ہے،  اتنے جھوٹ بولنے والے کبھی اکٹھے نہیں ہوئے ، یہ اتنی جھوٹی حکومت ہے کہ ایک دن کا بیان دوسرے دن سے نہیں ملتا، حکومت کا مشورہ ہے کہ اگر وزیراعظم، وزیر خزانہ و اطلاعات منہ بند رکھیں اور جھوٹ بولنا چھوڑ دیں تو حالات ٹھیک ہوجائیں گے۔

شاہد خاقان عباسی نے کہا کہ اس حکومت میں اکثر لوگوں کو پتا نہیں ہوتا کہ ان کا کیا کام ہےخود عمران خان بھی اکثر بھول جاتے ہیں کہ وہ وزیراعظم ہیں، معیشت کے بارے میں بہت سے شکوک و شبہات پیدا ہوگئے ہیں، بجلی گیس کی قیمتوں میں اضافہ ہوگیا ہے، بے روز گاری بڑھی ہے اور افراط زر میں اضافہ ہوا ہے، ایف بی آر نے ٹیکس ریونیو 176 ارب روپے کم  جمع کیا جو حکومت کی ناکامی ہے جب کہ حکومت نے ڈالر کی قیمت بڑھائی لیکن ایکسپورٹ میں کمی آئی۔

(ن) لیگ کے رہنما نے کہا کہ حکومت کے اپنے ترجمان نے اپنی حکومت کو تنقید کا نشانہ بنایا ہے، فرخ سلیم حکومت کے معیشت پر ترجمان ہیں اور وہ کہتے ہیں کہ خطرے کی گھنٹیاں بج رہی ہیں، اب اگر خطرہ ہے تو سب کو اس پر تشویش ہونی چاہیے، ہم وزیر اعظم، وزیر خزانہ ، وزیر اطلاعات یا حکومت کے ترجمان کی بات پر یقین کریں، ان کا تو کہنا ہے کہ حکومت جھوٹ بول رہی ہے اور معیشت پر اثرات چھپانے کی کوشش کررہی ہے۔

شاہد خاقان عباسی نے کہا کہ نیب قانون کالا اور اندھا قانون ہے، نیب کی جانب سے کوئی نوٹس نہیں آیا،الزام وہ لگائیں جو حقیقت ہو جو الزام لگائیں یا نوٹس دیں میں سامنا کرنے کو تیار ہوں، اسحاق ڈار کو اگر میں نے باہر بھجوایا ہے تو میرے خلاف مقدمہ درج کروائیں
